On November 21, 1956, the M-200 Myest was rammed by the destroyer Statny off the coast of Estonia, sinking within minutes and trapping nearly two dozen sailors in the forward torpedo room, where they survived for over 24 hours in freezing, pitch-black conditions communicating through a buoy phone line before rescue attempts collapsed and all remaining men perished.
Laid down in Leningrad in 1940 and one of only four XV-series Malyutka-class submarines completed during World War II, the 50.5-metre Myest served the Baltic Fleet through the war and into the Cold War before her tragic end.
This 1:260 scale LEGO MOC faithfully recreates the M-200 with a display stand that hides a small secret.
