Commissioned in January 1939 and the lead ship of the first true capital ships of the Kriegsmarine. The Scharnhorst spent World War II as one of the most active and aggressive German surface raiders, sinking HMS Glorious with one of the longest-range naval gunfire hits in history off Norway in 1940.

She was also conducting the audacious Channel Dash through heavily defended British waters in 1942 alongside Gneisenau and Prinz Eugen, before meeting her end at the Battle of the North Cape on December 26, 1943, when HMS Duke of York and her escorts finally cornered and sank her in the Arctic with the loss of all but 36 of her 1,968 crew.

This free 116-part mini-scale LEGO MOC recreates her with a camouflage pattern imitated across the hull and tower sections.
