This was the only Admiral Hipper-class cruiser to survive World War II.
The Prinz Eugen was commissioned in August 1940 and sailed into history three months later as Bismarck's escort during Operation Rheinübung, landing hits on HMS Hood at the Battle of the Denmark Strait before separating to raid independently while the Royal Navy hunted the Bismarck to her death. So similar was her profile to the Bismarck that British forces initially misidentified the two ships.
She survived the war through the Channel Dash, a British torpedo, and years of Baltic operations before being surrendered to the US Navy in 1945 and ultimately expended in the Operation Crossroads nuclear tests at Kwajalein Atoll in 1946.
This free 119-part micro-scale LEGO MOC recreates her as a companion to the BOBBY BRIX Bismarck MOC.
