Built by Metro-Cammell in Birmingham and entering service on the District line on January 28, 1980, the D78 Stock was renowned as the most reliable fleet London Underground ever operated, averaging 19,000km between failures and at its best reaching 35,000km.

They were the longest cars on the Underground at over 18 metres, serving the green District line for 37 years until the last train ran on April 21, 2017, drawing huge crowds and trending online as enthusiasts lined up for a final ride.

This 589-part mini-scale LEGO MOC recreates the D78 in a two-wagon design with accurate colour scheme and detailing, a simple brick-built interior, and a display-focused build designed for shelves and desks rather than play.
