Vienna is a beautiful city with many marvelous monuments and architecture to show. One of its marvels is the Danube Tower, locally known as the Donauturm. If you want to build one in micro-scale, you can! This LEGO MOC is simple to build and a worthy piece to display anywhere that would remind you of the wonderful capital city of Austria.
HISTORY
The Donauturm (Danube Tower) is the tallest structure in Austria, standing at 252 meters (827 feet). Located in Vienna’s Donaupark, it was built between 1962 and 1964 to mark the 1964 International Garden Exhibition. Designed by architect Hannes Lintl, the tower is a prominent feature of Vienna's skyline and a key example of mid-20th-century modernist engineering.
Constructed primarily from reinforced concrete, the Donauturm features two high-speed elevators that take visitors to its observation deck and rotating restaurants. It is used primarily as a tourist attraction and telecommunications tower, supporting various radio and microwave transmitters. The Donauturm remains a popular site for panoramic views of Vienna and the Danube River region.
