Commissioned on February 22, 1943, the USS Iowa was the fastest and most heavily armed battleship the United States Navy ever built, capable of 33 knots to keep pace with the Essex-class carriers she escorted across the Pacific, and armed with nine 16-inch guns, the largest ever fitted to a US warship.
She secretly transported President Roosevelt to the 1943 Tehran Conference, earned 11 battle stars across World War II and Korea, and was reactivated a third time in the 1980s with Tomahawk cruise missiles before her final decommissioning in 1990. She is now preserved as a museum ship at the Port of Los Angeles in San Pedro, California.
This LEGO MOC recreates her at 1:1000 scale.
(Part 85975 might be too expensive to acquire on certain marketplaces and can be replaced with a regular 33492 in light bluish grey instead.)
