The last true ocean liner in the world and the largest ever built, the RMS Queen Mary 2 was launched in 2003 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire. This was the same yard that produced the SS Normandie and SS France.
The RMS Queen Mary 2 was christened by Queen Elizabeth II in January 2004 before her maiden voyage to New York. Measuring 345 metres and capable of 30 knots. She was built to standards that separate a true ocean liner from a cruise ship, engineered to cross the North Atlantic year-round in conditions that would keep other passenger vessels in port.
She remains the only ship offering regularly scheduled transatlantic crossings between Southampton and New York, a living continuation of a tradition stretching back to the great Cunard liners of the 19th century.
This LEGO MOC recreates her at 1:1400 scale.
