LEGO MS Estonia MOC - PDF Building Instructions

Even a small LEGO MOC like this one can contain some ingenious building techniques. Based on the real MS Estonia cruise-ferry, you can replicate it with your own collection of LEGO bricks! The model was designed at an approximate scale of 1:1400.

HISTORY

The MS Estonia was a passenger and car ferry built in 1979 in Meyer Werft, Germany, originally named Viking Sally. Over the years, she changed owners and names several times before becoming MS Estonia in 1993, operating under Estline, a joint Swedish-Estonian company. The ship was primarily used on the route between Tallinn, Estonia, and Stockholm, Sweden.

On the night of September 28, 1994, the MS Estonia sank in the Baltic Sea during a severe storm. The disaster occurred when the ship's bow visor failed, allowing water to flood the car deck. Of the 989 people on board, 852 lost their lives, making it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters of the 20th century in European waters. The tragedy led to major changes in maritime safety standards, especially regarding ferry design and operations in rough seas.
