The first of its kind in to serve the Royal Navy but also the only one of her class. The HMS Hood was once demonstrated as the pride of the Royal Navy during her interwar service before succumbing to the shells of the Bismarck on her final battle in the strait of Denmark.

This design recreates the ship at a detailed 1:1000 scale. It includes instructions for the display stand, a micro-scaled interior and significant details from the bow to the stern making it an excellent display model for your desk, shelf or room.

HISTORY

The HMS Hood was a British battlecruiser and the pride of the Royal Navy during the interwar years. Launched in 1918 and commissioned in 1920, she was the largest warship in the world for two decades and served as a powerful symbol of British sea power. Designed for speed and long-range engagements, Hood combined the firepower of a battleship with the agility of a cruiser. She spent much of her career on worldwide tours and fleet exercises, representing British naval strength across the globe.

During World War II, Hood joined the pursuit of the German battleship Bismarck in May 1941. On 24 May, during the Battle of the Denmark Strait, a shell from Bismarck penetrated Hood’s weak deck armour and detonated her aft magazine, causing a catastrophic explosion. The ship sank within minutes, taking 1,415 of her 1,418 crew with her. The loss of HMS Hood shocked the British public and became one of the most tragic naval disasters in history, leading directly to the Royal Navy’s relentless hunt and destruction of Bismarck days later.
