The US Navy's primary carrier-based air superiority fighter from 1974 until its retirement in 2006. This is the Grumman F-14 Tomcat, it was a twin-engine variable-sweep wing interceptor capable of tracking 24 targets simultaneously and engaging six at once with AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, and the only American fighter ever sold to a foreign air force that still operates it today.

Immortalised by the 1986 film Top Gun and its 2022 sequel, the Tomcat remains one of the most recognisable military aircraft ever built.
