Digital or printed instructions? You can now choose!
Share
You might have noticed that some of our LEGO® MOC Kits now come with a new option when it comes to building instructions. As of January 2026, selected kits allow you to choose between digital instructions only or printed + digital instructions.
This change gives you more flexibility depending on how you like to build, where you build, and whether you prefer a screen or paper in front of you. Below, we’ll explain exactly what each option includes so you can decide what works best for you.
Choosing Digital Instructions Only
When selecting Digital Instructions Only, you won’t receive printed instructions in the package. Instead, you get full access to the digital building instructions in PDF format.
Here’s what that means in practice:
- Unlimited access to the PDF file
- You can save it locally on your phone, tablet, or computer
- Works with any PDF reader or even a regular web browser
- No dedicated app required
- You’re allowed to print the instructions for personal use¹
Many builders prefer this option because it’s:
- More affordable
- Instantly accessible
- Easy to zoom in on details
- Perfect for tablets or laptops next to your build
¹If you ever want to print the instructions yourself, you’re free to do so for personal use. If you’re planning to print instructions for an event, workshop, or resale, just reach out! We can provide a CMYK print-ready version for proper color accuracy and help out with your project.
Choosing Printed + Digital Instructions
If you want the full experience, Printed + Digital Instructions is the premium option.

You’ll receive:
- Professionally printed building instructions
- Full access to the digital PDF instructions as well
Printed instructions offer the most traditional LEGO building experience. No screens, no batteries, and no distractions! It's just bricks and paper, the way many of us grew up building!
Our printed instructions are locally produced in Bratislava by Typocon s.r.o., which ensures:
- High print quality
- Accurate colors
- Durable paper suitable for long builds
Because these instructions are printed locally, this option comes at a slightly higher price compared to digital-only. You still get the digital version as well, so you can switch between paper and screen whenever you want.
Which Option Should You Choose?
There’s no “better” option — it really depends on how you build.
Choose digital instructions if you:
- Prefer building with a tablet or laptop
- Want the most affordable option
- Like zooming in on steps
- Don’t need printed materials
Choose printed + digital instructions if you:
- Enjoy a classic, offline building experience
- Build away from screens, devices and other modern distractions
- Want physical instructions to keep with the model forever
- Like having both formats available
Important Notes & Usage Disclaimer
Digital instructions may be printed in A4 or A5 formats for personal use only Redistribution, resale, reprinting, remixing, or commercial use is not permitted without our authorization. For events, workshops, exhibitions, or commercial projects, please contact us; we’ll be happy to help with proper print files!
Your access to digital instructions is tied to your purchase and intended for individual use only.
Final Thoughts
This new choice is all about flexibility and a little bit of eco-consciousness. After all, if you choose digital only instructions, you save on paper and reduce the demand for us to print instructions in advance!
Some builders want the simplicity of digital files, others want the tactile feel of printed instructions, and many want both.
Now, you can choose what fits your building style best without compromise!
