LEGO Dobby the House-Elf 76421 is now retired, but you can still find it here!
In This Article
Dobby is one of the most beloved characters in the entire Harry Potter series and for most of LEGO's Harry Potter run, he had no dedicated set to call his own. The LEGO 76421 Dobby the House-Elf changed that in 2023. Two and a half years later it retired, and Harry Potter fans who missed it are still looking for it.
What Is the LEGO Dobby the House-Elf Set?
The LEGO 76421 Dobby the House-Elf is a brick-built character figure released on 1 June 2023 as part of the LEGO Harry Potter theme. Designed by George Gilliatt, it was the first-ever LEGO set dedicated entirely to Dobby. Dobby had been featured in the Harry Potter franchise since 2002 but had somehow never received his own standalone LEGO build in over two decades of licensed sets.

At 403 pieces and a starting retail price of €29.99 / $34.99 / £24.99, it was a mid-range build aimed at ages 8 and up, which is pretty accessible enough for younger Harry Potter fans while staying detailed enough to satisfy adult collectors. It was on shelves from June 2023 until December 31, 2025, giving it roughly two and a half years before retirement. It is no longer available from LEGO or any authorised retailer.

What's Inside the Box?
The set builds a large-scale Dobby figure standing over 19 cm / 7.5″ tall. He is immediately recognisable in his tattered pillowcase tunic and with those enormous ears rendered in brick form. What's special about this set is how much movement you can add to the sculpture model: the head is posable for different expressions, and the arms and fingers are posable too, so you can adjust Dobby's hands to hold the two included accessories. You can also incline his ears however you want!

The included accessories are two of the most story-loaded objects in the entire Chamber of Secrets film. The first is a detailed model of Tom Riddle's diary (the Horcrux that drove the plot of Chamber of Secrets) which includes a brick-built Harry Potter's sock tucked inside, exactly as Lucius Malfoy accidentally freed Dobby by dropping it.
The second accessory is a brick-built version of Aunt Petunia's floating pudding cake, the dessert that Dobby levitated in the Dursleys' kitchen to warn Harry against returning to Hogwarts.
The finished Dobby figure stands on a brick-built display stand with a nameplate bearing his name. Such a design choice makes Dobby an even easier set to have on display on your desk or shelf in your cosy home.
💡 Did You Know?
Despite Harry Potter being one of LEGO's most enduring licensed themes (with sets released continuously since 2001), the 76421 is the first time Dobby ever received a dedicated LEGO set in over two decades of the licence!
Dobby's Place in the LEGO Harry Potter Universe
LEGO has produced Harry Potter sets continuously since 2001, covering everything from Hogwarts Express to the Battle of Hogwarts. The theme is one of the most beloved and longest-running licensed collaborations in LEGO's history, and it has an enormous dedicated collector base.
Within that universe, the character-figure subtheme, which features large-scale brick-built figures of specific characters, has become a particularly popular category sold by LEGO. Sets like the 76391 Hogwarts Icons Collectors' Edition and later character builds have shown that Harry Potter fans are deeply in love with display-focused sets that put a beloved character front and centre of their room. The sets become more than just a play thing.
Dobby, without a doubt, is among the most emotionally resonant characters in the entire franchise. His arc from enslaved house-elf to free being, and his sacrifice at the end of Deathly Hallows Part 1, made him a genuinely beloved figure for millions of readers and viewers. This sets was the perfect recreation of this beloved character.
Is It Worth Buying Retired?
LEGO Harry Potter sets with strong character appeal have a consistent track record of holding and growing secondary market value after retirement. Current secondary market value sits at approximately around +30€ and continues to rise despite LEGO making a newer version of Dobby in 2026 by releasing LEGO Set 76469. That said, as stock on the secondary market continues to thin, values typically recover and rise.

Who Is This For?
The LEGO 76421 Dobby the House-Elf is a natural fit for Harry Potter fans of all ages, collectors building a complete LEGO Harry Potter display, parents looking for a meaningful and slightly rare gift for a young fan aged 8 and up, and anyone who wants a dedicated Dobby display piece. It pairs naturally with other retired Harry Potter sets on your shelves, including the LEGO Hogwarts Castle: Dueling Club (76441), which also retired at the end of 2025.
